I just found StationRipper and I would like to say first of all that it's a GREAT program and I love it already. However, one problem I'm having is stations that delay the changing of the ID3 tag until a few seconds into the next song...this causes the recorded file to miss the first few seconds. The same goes for the end of the song on some stations, they change the tag early and causes the song file to stop right then and miss the remaining few seconds of the current song and starts the next recording too soon. Would it be possible to add an option for this delay in recording? For instance, let the user give a number of seconds to wait after the tag changes to actually stop recording for that song? The option could be written to be x number of seconds before or after the name tag changes since it is recording to memory anyway. But I would be happy with the "wait X seconds after the tag changes to split the stream". That way I can estimate the delay of the station I'm listening to and get complete songs :) Desired result: ...the option is set to continue to record 5 seconds after the tag is changed....StationRipper is recording....the current song's name tag changes....StationRipper continues to record for 5 extra seconds, stops, saves that file, then starts a new rip using the new name tag that caused the "5 sec left" option to kick in. Wouldnt this work? Again, this is a great program! Thanks for you time, Doug |

I guess the harder option would be the "before tag changes option". It would have to buffer the last X seconds constantly, then when the tag changes, have the saved file be from the last saved point 'up until X secs before' the tag changed, then the next file be 'from X secs before the tag changed' to current.

Hi Doug, Glad you like it :) Yep, that's a common problem. The broadcasters actually do that to annoy rippers :P The next version of StationRipper will have some things to help that (basically do what your setting, with offsets and padding) -Greg |
