No sure about the white page thing - if you are in IE, StationRipper in no way is involved (it only EMBEDS IE, so it only effects the instance in side of itself). I've been working on diaging some Last.fm issues. If you want to help, download and install this: http://www.stationripper.com/release/sr_v2.83b1.exe This version does a LOT more on problems. It will also output a log file (LastFM_stationname.txt) that you can look at to see if anything odd is happening. Also, if you go to View->Options, Adavanced Tab and click "Show StationRipper console", you'll see exactly what it is doing (or not doing). For those having Last.fm issues, it would be very helpful if you'd be will to download this test version - and let me know the results. Last.fm recording *DOES* work, but everything has to be set up exactly - and something odd may be going on here that I haven't been able to reproduce. Thanks! -Greg

2.83b1 seems to be very "verbal". When I open the console I see line after line of "********************" with the song name repeated over and over again. I don't recall other versions doing that, is that normal?
I also notice I'm getting album art, don't recall if I was getting this before. |

I've been using the beta version for a couple of days now. Here are some observations re ripping last.fm:
- definitely connecting more frequently at all hours of the day - all stations lose their connection at some point, some after one or tow songs, others after several - some userids seem to get locked out and don't connect at all during a session - artist and title info is being captured (but not album, genre, etc.) Let me know if and which log files you want me to forward. I've also downloaded and am running the beta. I'll echo adamh's comments regarding drop rates. It's not uncommon for a station to drop after only a couple of songs. It doesn't seem to depend on the time of day, and if I run last.fm using their software, there doesn't seem to be a break in the stream.
I can turn on the console and log it for you if it'll be helpful. |

The Genre and album isn't being set right now (More of a over all plugin issue on my end than anything else). I'm not sure what's up with the drops - I will oook. Does everything else seem to be running more smoothly now? It auto-logs - look in the StationRipper directory for the log with the stream name. It SHOULD be saying why it dropped (Which would be VERY useful to know!) Thanks, -Greg |

Since about two days i can't connect to last.fm. Every time i try i get an error.
So what's the problem? OK then, it's looking very good. The only remaining issue I can see if the problem with it stoping after X number of songs. So try this: http://www.stationripper.com/release/sr_v2.83b2.exe The ONLY way this should ever stop recording is if login gets a error. This *WILL* happen - I ran a long time over the last few days.and after 24+ hours the login failed, so it stopped. I MAY allow a certain # of retries once the login worked once. Please give this release and see if it al least improve things - it should. Thanks! -Greg. |

Hrm, wierd Adam. I've had one up for around 29 hours. Yeah, send me the log file that it writes (lastfm stream name, in the StationRipper directory). Or post it here. I need to nail down WHY it's happening - the ONLY reason I know of (besides some massive failure of the console) is if you get disconnected and login fails. If it IS that happening, then I guess I could wait on then re-try for a period of time. Problem is, I don't have a good way to tell between a bad loging (e.g., wrong password) and some kind of wierd last.fm general failure. |

I have noticed one thing about the beta. Previous versions of SR seemed to skip (send a "next" command?) songs I have in my database. The beta doesn't seem to do that anymore.

Hi, Just to say first that I'd be suprised if I'm not doing something silly.
I've watched the video on how to setup lastfm recording but it doesn't pop up and check the user I wanted to record with (only the one that I have). I've got .NET2 on, plus have other apps that required it which work. I double checked the password that I recorded with my user. I can hear sound when listening online via IE. When I click on radio streams within lastfm I can actually hear them (but not sure if I'm meant to cause I did see a note about getting a relay added or something to allow this). I've installed the betav2 from just above in this post. Nothing appears in the steams being recorded - and I'm never asked which use I would like to use for the recording. Although I only have one user loaded, and set it to be the default. What should I do next? Thanks, Far |

Hello, I just bought Station Ripper in order to record some Last.fm stations, like "Portishead's similar artists" and so on. Well, I must confess I'm a bit lost as I dont find the way to record anything through the "Last.fm Site" tab of the Station Ripper Interface. All my settings are ok (.NET 2.0 ; firewall), I've two valid Last.fm accounts and i can record last.fm stations from the "Last.fm Stations" tab of the Station ripper interface (there is a record button next to the station I want to rip) , so I guess i've missed something, because there are no such record buttons in the last.fm window... The help section doesn't say me much about that, and i'm a bit lost because lots of questions here refere to past versions of station ripper.And the movie on Youtube hasn't helped me... though I see on it it is possible to record stations of my choice, but I can't see how... it seems the ripping starts automatically without a record button, but its not the case here... Could someone maybe help me? How can I record something i've chose on the last.fm site (trough the SR interface, of course) ? Let's take and example , i'd like to record "Portishead's similar artists", which is the station that starts when i choose portishead as an artist on the last.fm. site). Thanks alot !!!

OKay, I found the broblem by myself... I had to choose the last.fm software to play the music instead of the flash plugin. This modification had to be done in my last.fm preferences ("Settings") |

Hi there,
I have just recently purchased Station Ripper. Only thing I really want to use it for is recording off of last.fm. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to figure out how to do that as there is no comprehensive guide on how to do it properly (at least I can't find one). I played around with it quite a bit but didn't really get it to work so far  First things first. I'm most interested in recording my own "Play music like XXX" stuff, but I figured the best approach to get this to work is to go to the "last.fm stations" page in SR and try to record one of the generic stations. This is where the problem starts... when I click on any of the recording buttons, it says "Starting Stream", and then I will get the message "Stream Ended. Killing Stream." after a short time. This also happens when I turn of my firewall. In a forum posting I read about the following command line to test for .NET 2.0: "C:\Program Files\Ratajik Software\StationRipper\LastFMConsole.exe" -t lastfm://globaltags/britpop -d "C:\Program Files\Ratajik Software\StationRipper\Work" -u "WinampMPEG/5.0" -w "StationRipper V2.70C" -n 1 -r 10070 --xs_search_window=30000:30000 I ran this and it doesn't give me an error message about .NET ...BUT it tells me "Unable to start - only registered users can use this recorder". Well, I AM a registered user - it did accept my registration information all right... I'm wondering if anything is fundamentally wrong? Or am I just too stupid to figure it out?
