I downloaded v2.70c today but the rip to Lastfm doesn't seem to be working.

It doesn't allow the login to Lastfm from within Stationripper and even if you've already logged in, when you click on a tag, it just sits on 'starting stream'

Has something been done to stop access or have I got it completely wrong?

I just bought a copy of Station Ripper hoping to record my personal radio stream from Last FM. Sounds amazing, but it doesn't actually work. Feel like I wasted my cash. It took me ages to realise that you have to right click on the station icon and select 'open in new window' to try and start the stream. All well and good. Then the track info just says "starting stream" indefinately. Some decent instructions would also be nice. Bummer.

Not sure what's up - you should be able to just click on a tab and go.

Lets try something.

Next to the Add button at the bottom of the screen, enter in:

lastfm://globaltags/electronic

And click the add button.

It SHOULD ask you for the user to record with and start recording.

One issue I've had is you HAVE to have set up the external player as how Last.fm plays.

I"m working on docs for this - and also doing some improvements on how it works.

Try the above, and let me know.   I have noticed that sometimes the Last.fm steam doesn't connect... but I'm recording 5 Last.fm streams right now, so it DOES work.

Nope, tried that and nothing; still just stalls at starting stream, after asking which user I want to record with. I have tried this with and without the Last FM player open in the system tray. I have also set it to default to the Last FM external player in my profile... Not sure why I'm not getting anywhere.

Same for me - it still just sits on 'starting stream'

Lets try a couple of things.

First, go to the View->Options menu, scroll right a bit and click on the advanced tab. Then click on "Show StationRipper console Window".

When you try recording, it should show a window for each stream - what does the window do?

Do you have a firewall?  If so, make sure the LastFMConsole.exe has outbound access.

Hi Greg,

It actually doesn't open a console window at all - just sits with the 'starting stream' report in the status box.

I verified that a window opens every time for Shoutcast streams.

Your software is just awesome and if we can figure this Lastfm problem out it'll be superb

Hi Greg,

I am having the same issue.

I tried to open the console window as you suggested, but if I do that I do not see a console window. Stationripper does become very slow when this option is on.

I don't have a (software) firewall on this machine, just a dedicated NAT device.

Note: I checked windows task manager and I see no process called "lastFMConsole.exe"...

Ah - good clue then.  DO you have a LastFMConsole.exe in \Program Files\Ratajik Software\StationRipper ?

Can you post your log? (View->Log)  It sounds like something maybe off in the install - easy to fix, if I can figure out what :)

This DOES work, just need to figure out why it's not working for some people.

I think I know what it is.

If you go to command line (or start->Run) and do:

Do you get a error about .NET

I'm am guessing you don't have .NET 2.0 installed - I forget to put that in the info, I'm sorry.

The install path to that (MS) is:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=085 6EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

If you don't have it, would you be willing to install and verify that fixes it?  Everything else looks ok. 

I will add more info about this, and see if I can auto-detect if it's not installed, giving the path to the install if it's not there.

WHEW! Glad to hear it was that simple a fix.  Thanks for working with me on this.

Anyone else that has this problem, please download the above.

I will work on getting that info on the main site - and trying to get StationRipper to detect if it's there (and providing a d/l link if it's now).

Hi Greg,

Your fix does get the ripping underway but for me it just rolls through all the tracks without actually completing any - so you end up with a #0/3 or #0/7 etc.

I cant get any external player to 'listen' to the station being ripped (FMlast player says 'nothing being listened' to) when the ripping is underway - I guess this could be part of the problem?

Sorry for the hassle - I guess its my setup in some way

Any help appreciated

Could you post your log? It should say what's up.  Or Click the ? next to the rip info, it should say WHY it's not liking the songs.

Hi Greg, it is recording OK, but... I just noticed that the tracks it saves from last.fm stations have incorrect MP3Tags: the filenames are made from the correct track & artist name, but if I play the files in Media Player, the MP3Tags are the artist + track name of the next song it captured on the same station.

I have another (Shoutcast) stream running and that one's files do not have this problem.

further to this : below is a dump (with a tag editor) of what I mean: the last column is the file name, the first 2 columns are title and artist.

The first 12 are taken from a shoutcast radio station and are correct; The following 14 are taken from last.fm and there the filenames are correct but the tags are not.

I just downloaded version 2.70 and got 1 last.fm ripping and it appears to be ripping accept none of the songs are saving or showing up anywhere on my computer?

Hi Greg,

I had a 'dont keep songs under' filter set for below 2000k and that seemed to be causing them all to be skipped. With that now unchecked its recording AOK with just the tag problem mentioned earlier in the forum
