Well ladies and gentlemen - I 've cracked the problem . Beware of other software that changes the association for m3u- files = playlists. If that points to Windows Medie Player then  that is what gets started when one asks to listen. Change  the association to winamp.

I had a very long look at the registry database and found nothing suspicious there.

I hope this is of use to anyone

I don't know if this is a bug as such but the solution  requires certain knowledge.

When I first installed I could listen to the station i was ripping but now I can't and I can't here recorded songs from ripper. In other words theres no connection to Winamp. I fear some other program as interfered with the register databse as every time one clicks on listen them wmplayer.exe starts up in memory (Windows Media Player) and no sound. I thought it was a file association problem but after I've changed that the problem stills persists. I've also toyed toyed with the port relay without succes.

Anyone have an idea if it's in the Windows registry? I've reinstalled ripper but that didn't help either.
