Here's a quick intro on how to get StationRipper and Last.fm working together.
If you have issues, please take a look
hereOverview
The basic steps to get this going are:
- Get Last.fm, under Internet Explorer, playing on the external player
- Set up StationRipper with your user info
- Bring up Last.fm site inside of StationRipper, and click to play a Station (This will start recording).
Detailed setup list
The above is very simple once you know what to do. Here's a more detailed list
Make sure Last.fm is set up:
- If you haven’t already, download from here: http://www.last.fm/download. You don't actually NEED the Scrobler plugin, but this installer also installs the player.
- Install and configure it. Do whatever plugins you want, but make sure your login info is correct.
- Bring up IE
- Go to http://last.fm
- Login
- Click on the down arrow next to your name (top right), and click "Settings".
- Click on the "Web Site Tab"
- Under "Playback options", select "Play music in the Last.fm software".
- Click on “Radio” on the top toolbar.
- I assume you have some stations you’ve listened to. Under “Your Recent Stations”, click on one. If not, create a station.
- Say “yes” to any warnings.
- The Last.fm player should come up and start playing that station.
Set up StationRipper:
- Bring up StationRipper
- Go to View->Options, and click on the Last.fm tab.
- Click the Add button, and enter your username and password. Click ok and then click ok.
- At this point, StationRipper is ready to record.
To record in StationRipper(Recommended way):
- Click on “Last.fm Site” on left nav bar.
- Click on Radio on the top bar on the last.fm site.
- Click play on a recent Station
- Select your user ID, and click ok
- The station will start recording.
- You can record any station, and any number of songs. The only limit is you can only record one station at a time per ID (last.fm limitation). If you want to record more than one at a time, set up multiple userids on Last.fm and the StationRipper Last.fm tab, and select different ones when you start recording.
Alternative ways of recording:
- Each Last.fm station has a URL. It will look something like lastfm://globaltags/rock. You can copy that URL from the web site and paste into StationRipper (next to the add button), and then click add
- Once you have recorded a Last.fm station once, you can go to StationRipper and click on the MyStations button at the top. You can then pick any station you’ve record, again.
- On the StationPortal site, inside of StationRipper, there’s a Last.fm stations link. Click on that to see what stations are known, and then click the record button to record.
